

Nina was born in Gorman, Texas to Marvin and Gladys Holdridge. She grew up in DeLeon, TX, and graduated from DeLeon High School in 1955. She attended Tarleton College in Stephenville, TX, and TCU in Fort Worth, TX, achieving her BS in Microbiology. She worked as a microbiologist at several Dallas hospitals, including Parkland Memorial Hospital, Zale-Lipshy University Hospital, and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Nina was the supervisor of the microbiology lab at Children’s for many years.
Nina was a kind and caring woman who continued learning all her life. She continued to develop new hobbies and skills professionally and personally. She loved birding and artistic endeavors such as pottery and flower arranging. She was a charter member of Horizon Unitarian Universalist Church in Carrollton, TX and remained active in the church for as long as she could. She fought Alzheimer’s as hard as she could, from healthy habits to volunteering for studies. She was a member of the Candlelighters Alzheimer’s support group for many years and received care from them late in life after she contracted Alzheimer’s disease.
She was preceded in death by brothers James Holdridge and Gerald Holdridge. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Hoyt, son-in-law Ron Hoyt, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Horizon Unitarian Universalist Church at 1641 W Hebron Pkwy, Carrollton, Texas, on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or as a designated gift to Candlelighters Alzheimer’s Support Group of Horizon UU in Carrollton, TX.
