Russell L. “Skip” Nordstrom II, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Plano Medical Center Hospital in Plano, Texas, after a brief illness. Skip was born in Grand Island, Nebraska to Russell L. Nordstrom and Dolores A (Hasenzahl) Nordstrom on March 27, 1951. He graduated from Elgin Academy, a private college preparatory school in Elgin, Illinois, and attended Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana, where he pledged the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. He also earned a Masters degree in Theology from Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. His professional career was centered on various sales and journalism positions, and enjoyed success in both disciplines. He was an ardent sports fan, and enjoyed golfing.
Skip was a devout Christian, and his family is comforted by the knowledge that he is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, but he will be missed every day by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell L. Nordstrom. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Brooks) Nordstrom, his mother, Dolores A. Nordstrom, his sister, Gayle N. Hardy, two brothers, William R. Nordstrom and John H. Nordstrom, two nieces, Erika K. Nordstrom and Krista G. Nordstrom, and a Nephew, Jay R. Nordstrom.
