Tod will always be remembered for his kindness, his wit, his acceptance of others and his gracious and unpretentious humility. He was extraordinary in the most unassuming manner. He passed away at the age of 67 in Grapevine TX on April 15, 2024.
Tod was born in Monte Vista CO in 1957 to Ed and Betty Crona. Known for his mischievousness, his parents would often call him, ‘you little monkey’. His parents, both educators at Monte Vista schools, nurtured and encouraged their son’s education. Tod was exceptionally intelligent and, in many subjects, a savant. He loved growing up in Colorado and the summer vacations camping with his parents, his brother Brad and sister Tina. He grew up enjoying photography and he will always be known for having a camera around his neck. Every year he would spend days and sometime weeks driving through the mountains of Colorado to shoot landscape pictures and go off-roading. He seemed to know the name of every mountain range, river, creek, gully, and watershed. He knew Colorado so well, that even in the most remote locations, he was never lost. In his heart, Colorado will always be his home.
Tod attended Colorado State University obtaining his undergraduate degree in psychology and graduated in 1980. He went on to obtain an MBA attending Texas Christian University and University of Texas, McCombs School of Business. He made life-long friendships from his college years.
For most of his career, Tod worked in the area of business finance and accounting in the Dallas/Fort Worth TX area. Beginning with EDS, Swift, Motorola, and PrimeCo, he completed his career at Verizon Wireless. He retired in 2017.
Tod met Jennifer Disco in 2002 through a Christian Dating service. He loved how he could make Ms. Jenny laugh and she was immediately smitten by his quiet and confident nature. They fell in love and were married on August 6, 2005, in Grapevine TX.
In addition to his wife and family, Tod’s ‘loves’ were playing basketball almost every day, often multiple times a day, watching sports, working out, photography, off-roading, craft beer, bluegrass music and working on what he jokingly called ‘investment optimization’.
Although he did not speak much about religion, Tod loved the Lord and his savior Jesus Christ. He knew he was special in the eyes of Lord, but never boasted about himself.
Tod lived well and he loved well. He will be missed and always remembered.
Tod was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Crona and sister Tina Crona. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, his father Ed Crona, his brother Brad Crona and Brad’s wife Nancy, his niece Brittany Hanson and her children Olivia and Liam, nephew Peter Crona and his wife Jaimee and their son Luke, his cousin Jeff Crona and his daughters Ana Crona and Kelsey Crona and his cousin Spencer Crona and wife Dana.
Funeral Services will be held at 10am CT, May 13th at St. Francis Catholic Church in Grapevine TX. Tod’s cremains will be inurned at the historic Grapevine Cemetery. Flowers can be sent to St. Francis for the Funeral Services. Donations to St. Francis are also appreciated.
