Wash., on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, following a brief illness.
Don was born in Tacoma, Wash., on December 28, 1954, to Donald
Jay Sr. and Anna (McJoe) Smith. Following high school graduation, Don
took some college courses, and later went on to serve our country as
part of the US Army.
Don was a loving dad and grandfather, and was a great friend to all who
were lucky enough to get to know him. He was very protective over his
loved ones, and if you knew Don, that was one of his standout qualities.
He enjoyed learning about the solar system, growing plants, playing
online poker, and taking his loyal dog, ‘Batly,’ out for walks or rides. He
loved Jesus, reading the Bible, and discussing conspiracy theories with
family and friends. Don’s favorite song was ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’ by
Blue Oyster Cult.
Don was preceded in death by his dad, Don Sr.; mom, Anna Spencer;
and brother, Steve Smith.
He is greatly missed by his daughters, Nichol and Jaclyn Smith; sons,
Travis and Kristopher Smith; five grandchildren, Sasha, Kian, Atla, Joshua,
and Zach; sister, Juliet Thornburg; and his faithful canine, Batly Smith.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, once COVID-19 restrictions
are eased.
