Jean "Jennie" Bishop

July 6, 1923 - September 1, 2024

Jean Bishop passed away in Olympia, Washington, with family by her side, at the impressive age of 101.

Jean was born on July 6, 1923 in Doty, Washington to Victoria and Michael Kosnoski.

She attended school in Pe Ell, Washington, and after graduation went to work in Seattle, Washington at Boeing where she met Roy Bishop. She spotted him showing off at an ice skating rink and the rest is history. They married January 15, 1944 in Seattle. Eventually, they moved to Centralia, Washington, and started a family.

In 1954, they moved to Raymond, Washington, where Jean was a busy homemaker and an avid and very competitive golfer and bowler.

In 1963, the next move took them to Lacey, Washington, where Roy, with Jean by his side, was the first PGA golf professional at Capitol City Golf Course. On a daily basis, Jean assisted in the golf course operations; from selling green fees and merchandise, to cooking hamburgers in the restaurant. Along the way, she made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, pinochle, and birthday celebrations with the "gals." She loved all animals and enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels wherever she lived. Her faith was strong yet quiet... she led by example.

The next adventure was developing and managing the Mountain Greens Mobile Home Park in Lacey. Again, Jean made many new friends, kept busy supporting the "grands" in all their activities, and hosted many family gathering. She never had an enemy as she was kind to everyone; a stranger wasn't a stranger for long. She loved shopping, and always managed to come home with a "heck of a deal."

Jean is survived by her daughter Karen (John) Logue, son Kevin (Carrie) Bishop; five grandchildren: Scott (Kelcee) Gurnsey, Justin (Kate) Gurnsey, Andrea (Dusty) Kinley, Jeff (Autumn) Bishop, and Jason (Megan Easley) Bishop; and nine great-grandchildren.

A heartfelt thank you to Ramona and Paul Edwards for their compassionate and loving care to Jean during her last three years. We are now "family."
