
Thomas Lee Haunreiter, born March 11, 1947 in Chehalis Washington, passed away in his sleep November 4, 2011 at his home in Bonney Lake. Tom was the second child of Fred and Virginia Haunreiter, long time Chehalis residents.
Tom began school at St Joseph’s in Chehalis and graduated from W.F. West High School in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy that year and was honorably discharged in 1970, having served aboard the U.S.S Constellation with three tours of duty in the Viet Nam Conflict – the “Connie” as his ship was affectionately known carried nearly as many sailors as the entire population of Chehalis!
Tom retired from The Boeing Company in 2007 after 15 years but he worked in the Lewis County area after being discharged from the Navy. He worked at Shakertown in Winlock and Date Lumber Co. in Chehalis. He received a technical degree in maintenance from Clover Park Vocational Technical School before beginning his career at Boeing.
Tom was a member of Sound Life Church in Spanaway. He enjoyed many friends and activities there. He was a life long bowler and was bowling in three different leagues in the Bonney Lake area. He had many bowling friends and enjoyed his times with them at the bowling alley.
Tom was pre-deceased by his parents, Fred and Virginia, and is survived by sister Kathy Johnson and her husband Bob, sister Pat Riffe and her husband Randy, and brother Fred Haunreiter and his wife Rose. He had two nephews, Aaron Riffe and Tyler Haunreiter, and one niece, Mika Haunreiter. He is also survived by his good friends Pat and Joyce Loyd of Oceanside California, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends.
Graveside services at Claquato Cemetery in Chehalis will be Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11am and are under the direction of Sticklin Funeral Home, Centralia. A reception immediately following the graveside service will be at the home of Kathy and Bob Johnson. For further information about the service, please call Kathy Johnson at 360.748.6002. In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to the Fred & Virginia Haunreiter Memorial Nursing Scholarship.
