We met Gene when we were visiting Barb in Seattle a few years ago.Thought he was such a nice guy,so respectful to Edna,Barbs  mom.He was a great guide.We had a great time!Always enjoyed visiting with him.! Our deepest sympathies to

Gene was closest in age to me and the brother I looked up to.  As young boys we did everything together.  When he was able to buy his first car he was happy to let me drive it and I will never forget that day!
He married at 19 and then moved to Seattle.  I missed him but not long after I married and started my family.
We talked on the phone and he would come here to visit or I would go there.  Last year I visited there and the two of us spent the day together.  His health was declining but we enjoyed just being together again.  He will always be in my heart as "My Big Brother" that I loved dearly.


Eugene has always been my "hero" ,  He would come down and helped  my Dad, we were at the fence in hog lot and over I fell in an Eugene got me out, from the hogs.
My thoughts, prayers are with the family in this time.  May God wrap his loving arms around each one with comfort peace in these days ahead.  May God bless each of you..

Uncle Eugene had the greatest since of humor. Visiting him in Seattle when I was a teenager was such an adventure. Me and my mom and dad were given the "Eugene tour" of Seattle. He made us laugh so much that I think I missed half of the city tour. I will always remember him as the uncle that would make me laugh. You will be missed Eugene. No more suffering for you. This isn't goodbye, this is see you later. 

I remember when Gene moved to Washington state. It was a long time ago. We so  looked forward. To him coming back to sc every.year  I took him fishing some 10 years ago. We caught a lot. he caught one about 8 lbs. we decided to have a fish fry the next day and it became every year event at the Tilson reunion. I will miss him But for sure  I’ll see him again.  With All My love Brother Randy!                                                                                                                               

Gene moved away to Seattle when I was a teenager. He tried to come home ever year after we all started getting older. When he was here in South Carolina and even when he was on the phone with me he always called me his “baby sister.” Then he  had to tell the story about the day I was born. He was in the field hoeing cotton with the other brothers. I had one sister. She was the oldest. Then along came 6 boys so it was a big shock to all of them that they had a baby sister. He would laugh and say they just couldn’t believe it.  After I was born mama had 2 more boys. 8 boys and 2 girls. We have lost our oldest brother and my only sister. Now we have lost Gene. It doesn’t get any easier. Love and miss you “big brother.”

Uncle Eugene (Gene) is how I knew him. He was always the visiting uncle from the other side of the country, and it was a big deal to see him. My time with him was limited, but I knew him to be kind hearted and encouraging. My dad (J.C.) was his oldest brother and passed away 3 years ago. I'll remember him for his smile and turned up button nose. He might have made a good Santa if he put on the costume. Prayers for his closest family. He will be missed.
