

Carole, 65, of Monroe, formerly of Charlotte, died peacefully in her home Sunday, May 30, 2010.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 2, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John C. Mouritsen officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Matthews.
Born April 24, 1945 in Charlotte, NC, Carole was the daughter of the late James David Sloop, Sr. and Harriette Birmingham Sloop. She was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School. Carole was employed as a surgical coordinator with Bradford Clinic for over 20 years, where she was very dedicated to her doctors and patients. She loved to crochet and enjoy the company of friends. She especially enjoyed the Saturday group that met at Bojangles in Matthews.
Carole is survived by her children, her son, Michael Derek Whitlock, his wife, Leigh Anne, and their children, Kyle, Tommy and Kyra, all of Lake Park; her daughter, Tamara Lisa Stewart, her husband, Anthony Wayne, and their children, Steven, Michelle and Anthony, all of Mooresville, and Tamara’s son, Christopher Luke Price, and her daughter, Kimberly Michelle Comer, her husband, Christopher Blake, and their daughter, Savannah Caitlyn, all of Monroe; her brother, James David Sloop, Jr. and his wife, Janice, of Weddington, and their sons, Michael and Mark, both of Charlotte. She is also survived by her beloved dog and companion, Pookie.
