I first met “cowboy” at  Sunrise restaurant some years ago when dining with friends from our church.  We all found him to be such a sweet “gentleman “ and always asked about him  and looked for him each time we went there. I will always be grateful for his generosity when on one occasion he rescued me and my friend, as I had taken her out to eat for her birthday and found  that I had forgotten my $20.00. He graciously stepped up and paid my bill for me! I was so embarrassed. Over the years, I tried to repay him, but I found out what a precious and kind man he was.  He was “one-of-a-kind”  and I was so very sad to hear of his passing today.  We could not return to Charlotte until Sunday and I am so sorry to miss his service.  This wonderful man will be missed  by us all and I know your hearts are breaking for him right now.

No words will express what my brother Ray meant to me! As Ray, was the first born in our family he was always a part of my life.  Even after he married Lillie Mae and lived many miles away thereafter, he was still a very important part of my life.  Ray always made a point to take a couple of weeks’ vacation to spend in Post, visiting Mother and Dad, which meant the world to Mother.  It was always a time that all of us kids were at home at the same time, which meant lots of food, stories, laughter and very little sleep!  As more grandchildren were born, these annual family gatherings became even more fun, especially getting on the "list" for a visit to the one and only bathroom (which stayed very busy 24 hours a day).  This also led to lots more laughter and stories.  After Mother and Dad died, these annual family gatherings sadly ended.  Once I retied, I made it a point to call Ray more often, which always meant 3 or 4 hours of great conversation and a wonderful chance to share so much together.  Ray always had such a great outlook on life, and was very sociable with everyone that he met.  He and Lillie Mae lived such a full and wonderful life.  Now they have been reunited, along with Eddie.  He will always be my big brother, and will live on in our hearts and memories, I Love You Ray!

Myra,  Barry and Mike, I know the pain and sorrow of losing a daddy and you and your families are in our prayers. I know you find comfort in knowing that your daddy is walking the streets of gold with your mom and Ed. Your daddy was such a special man, it seemed like he always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. And he loved his cowboy church! He talked about going out to eat with Myra, about how proud he was of his grandchildren and his kids and their spouses. He always said he was such a blessed man- and he was because the love that he had for his family and friends was returned to him ten fold. And I count myself as being so blessed from him being in our lives. I know that when God called your dad home, he took a piece of your heart with him, we are praying for you to find peace and comfort in your sorrow. And know that the Hallmans  from Winchester Dr. will never ever forget your precious mom and dad and their kids....The Kikers.

It was a joy knowing Ray. My wife Suzy loved Her uncle Ray and Lillie Mae. We were blessed to visit them several times in Charlotte and they were just consummate hosts. Ray always had a sweet disposition and that great big smile.   His family was truly blessed by a wonderful kind hearted man.
