David was born in Charlotte, NC on July 26, 1936. He served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1958, as a telecommunicator stationed in Greenland; and later in Fort Fisher, North Carolina. Fort Fisher is where he also met the love of his life, Magdalene (Maggie) Norris, whom he married on December 24, 1958. After his service in the Air Force, David obtained a job with Patent Scaffolding Company in Charlotte, where he worked for 30+ years until his retirement.

David had a passion for flying his personal airplane, traveling in his motorhome, and helping his wife in the garden. His hobbies included painting, woodworking, model airplanes, antiquing, word find puzzles and watching TV.
His sense of humor made everyone smile, and he always left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Of all things, David's greatest love was his wife "Maggie", whom he could never stop talking about.
