On Sunday, October 20, 2024, our dear mother, Deloris Williams Conner, slipped the bonds of this earth when she answered the call of her Heavenly Father to come home. A call she had eagerly expected and longed to hear.
Deloris was born on October 26, 1932, and would have celebrated her 92nd birthday in a few days. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Alan Conner (Kathy), David Conner (Mary), and Charlotte Hensley (Mike); by seven grandchildren: Ashley Conner (Cassie), EJ Rouse (Tiffany), Spanky Rouse (Lara), Patrick Hensley (Ashley), Caleb Hensley, Ramsey Lawing (Paul), and Ann Rose Conner; and also by nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Williams, of Columbia, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her parents, Hallie and C.A. Williams, and three brothers: C.A. Williams, Jr., David Williams, and Michael Williams.
Deloris was a charter member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, where she also served on the preschool, daycare, and library staffs. She loved her Lord with all her heart and her family with a profound passion. We were truly blessed to love her in return and will greatly miss her wit, charm and feisty retort (not to mention the tomato pies and ice cream) that we enjoyed during our many visits and conversations over the years. We will also miss the Godly example of her daily life.
She is in the presence of her beloved Lord and Savior and enjoying the company of her many friends and family that have gone before her. What a glorious reunion!!
Family will receive friends Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, in the worship center at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Harris Campus, 7200 E W.T. Harris Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina 28215. A celebration of Deloris' Life will follow at 3:00 PM.
For those unable to attend the service in-person, virtual attendance may be accessed by visiting Deloris' online memorial tribute at McEwenMintHillChapel.com and selecting the "Join Livestream" icon on the service section.
