Dillon attended Prospect High School in Monroe, North Carolina, where he enjoyed playing baseball, was a member of the 4-H club and a member of the F.F.A. (Future Farmers of America.) After high school and working various job, he became the owner of a residential contracting company located in Matthews, North Carolina for many years until retiring to Monroe, North Carolina.
Being a hard working family man, Dillon was a devoted husband and father. He was also an active member at his church where he served for many years as a deacon and helped with various construction projects at his church.
Those predeceased by Dillon include his first wife of 43 years, Margaret Keziah Plyler of Matthews, North Carolina, with acknowledgement to Hospice for her care; his father and mother, Appleton Paul Plyler and Eva Marie Plyler, both of Monroe, North Carolina; and his brother, Donald “Harold” Plyler.
Dillon is survived by his wife of 20 years, Grace Privette Plyer of Monroe, North Carolina; daughters and sons, Teresa Plyler Roach, Scotty Paul Plyler, Darrell Graham Plyler, Donna Thompson Williams, Katherine Plyler Helms, Steven Ray Privette, Selena Privette Turner and Michael Marion Privette. Also surviving are his six sisters, Joy Plyler Treadaway, Vaydean Plyler Hurst, Flo Plyler Laney, Vera Plyler Jenkins, Carol Plyler Wilson and Judy Plyler Helms; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Dillon will be held from 5:30 until 7:30 pm Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, North Carolina 28104.
