Douglas Mathew Clark

Doug was born on November 8, 1954 to Joyce Mathews Miller and the late Arthur L. Clark in Montezuma, GA. A driven and disciplined spirit from his youth, Doug enjoyed and excelled in academic study and competitive swimming. He often cited swimming as a tool God used to form his constant personal discipline.

Doug graduated from Bryan College in Dayton, TN where he met his wife Trish. During the college years, Doug began to love the gospel in fresh ways; he was reinvigorated in his love for God and the things of God. He was a diligent, hard-working, intelligent businessman. Early in adulthood, he learned the industrial energy controls business from his father; he built that early learning into a fruitful, God honoring career selling industrial systems and running business divisions. He was a loyal, committed leader; he finished his work as a division manager working among loyal colleagues, friends and family at AC Controls.

Throughout his adult life, Doug was an influential figure in the church; he was an elder in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church for 30 years. He served the church tirelessly with warm compassion, godly wisdom and fidelity to the gospel. Doug was a devoted Christian son, brother, husband, father, church leader, business partner, friend and servant of God. His greatest love was and is his Lord, Jesus Christ.

Doug is survived by his mother, Joyce Mathews Miller, his beloved wife, Tricia Poland Clark, and three children with their spouses: Justin and Kelly Clark, Calvin and Jennifer DeBoer, and Jordan and Katelyn Clark. He also is survived by eight grandchildren: Izzy, Clara, Joel, Jack, Miles, Walker and two expected in the Spring.

A viewing will be held from 5 - 8 p.m on Thursday the 8th at McEwen Funeral Home in Mint Hill, NC. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m Friday at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Mint Hill, NC.
