

He was the son of Edward Cummings and Elizabeth Cummings (Davies) of Dorchester. He and his sisters, Marilyn and Carol, were raised in Randolph, MA.
He served in the Army in the 1st Signal Brigade and was wounded at the Battle of Hue during the Tet offensive in Vietnam in 1968.
A lifelong member of IBEW 103, he began working at Beth Israel Hospital in the late seventies as an electrician. He retired as Director of plant engineering and maintenance for Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.
A resident of Randolph Stoughton and Marshfield, Massachusetts, he moved to North Carolina in 2007 to enjoy golf year round.
He was an avid golfer, fisherman, youth basketball/baseball coach, and sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins in addition to his favorite golfer, Tiger Woods.
He is survived by his son, Edward Cummings of Matthews, NC; daughter, Suzanne Whealan (Cummings) of Oakboro, NC, her children, Jake and Julia, as well as many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Arrangements will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DAV for disabled American veterans or a local shelter.
