

Jacquelin was in the last class to graduate from Bain High School in Mint Hill, NC in 1950. She attended Queens College and graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC in 1954. During her nursing training, she spent 3 months at Chestnut Lodge near Bethesda, Maryland. After graduating from nursing school, she married David E. Hagler of Mint Hill, NC who served in the US Army. While stationed in Ft. Carson, CO Jacquelin was employed at the U.S. Army Hospital and later moved to Germany. After returning to the states with her husband, she was in charge of many different wards at Lyster Army Hospital at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. She worked at the Enterprise Medical Clinic for many years alongside Dr. Emmitt Brunson, and at Gibson Hospital as a supervising nurse. Later in her career, Jacquelin worked with the Coffee County Health Department as a home health care nurse. She served one year on the Alabama State Board of Health. She volunteered 31 years of service with the American Red Cross through Blood Drives/Mobiles and disaster preparations.
Jacquelin was active in her community. In Enterprise, Alabama she became involved in a local theater group and performed in many plays. She taught elementary-aged children health education through puppet shows and taught nursing classes at Enterprise State Junior College. Jacquelin was a member of Green Hill Presbyterian Church.
After retiring in 1993, Jacquelin and husband David returned to Mint Hill and their mountain home in Little Switzerland, NC, and traveled extensively in the United States and abroad.
Jacquelin was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. David E. Hagler, and her parents, Curtis and Katheryn Bartlett. She is survived by her four caring daughters and their families; Cynthia Antonopoulis (Jimmy) of Matthews, NC, Darlene Hagler of Mint Hill, NC, Laurie Manning (Richard) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and Melanie Hagler Blount (Steve) of Spencer, NC.; grandchildren, Kyle Manning (Madison), Kaitlyn Manning and Alexia Antonopoulis, Great-grandson, Leo David Manning, brother, Jimmy Bartlett and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is sincerely grateful for the support of Novant Hospice; specifically Tasha, Grace, and Chaplain Greg. Additionally, we want to thank all of the dedicated ladies that helped care for our mother from "Visiting Angels".
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 21st, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00am at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel.
