

John Dermont Graham Jr was born on October 4th, 1940 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He graduated from Central High School in 1958 and served four years in the United States Air Force. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Williams on October 5th, 1968 and they have two children. He worked for General Electric for over three decades, and had a brilliant technical mind. Both during and after his working years, he enjoyed participating in building-related projects and serving as a youth advisor at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, his lifelong church home. After retirement, in addition to his service to St. Marks, he volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and served as a tutor for several years at local elementary schools. Those who knew him experienced his warmth, kindness, and willingness to help with anything, regardless of the time of day. John put his family first with everything he did, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially at the beach.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John “Monty” Graham (Michelle), his daughter Kathryn ”Katie” Sinchuk (Charles), grandchildren Nyla Graham (Nick), Liam Graham (Ebby), Tarynn Graham, and John Sinchuk, in addition to his niece, Beth Lammonds, great-niece Lacey Lammonds and great-nephews Nick Vincent and Jakob Lammonds, and his beloved cat Gabby.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Dermont Graham Sr, his mother, Clara Mae Hough Graham, his sister Josephine “Mary Jo” Graham Lammonds, and nephew Eric Lammonds.
A visitation will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, located at 1001 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC 28207, on February 14, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
A memorial service will follow at the same location, beginning at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
