Lela Elgin Lippert

Lela E. Lippert, 100, died on May 17, 2013 at Plantation Estates in Matthews, NC surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 5, 1913, the daughter of William Milton Bichell and Elgin Elizabeth Sherbert Bichell. She was preceded in death by her sisters Norma B. Munch and Shirley B. Herb and her husband, Arnold L. Lippert, who died in 2004.

She is survived by three daughters: Norma and husband Robert Kirkpatrick of Matthews, North Carolina; Lynn and husband, Burdette Joesten of Southport, North Carolina; and Arlene and husband, Myron Berg of Seattle, Washington. Her grandchildren include: William Cozart, III; Lynn C. Schwartz; Arnold L. Cozart; Carrie C. Reinecke; Brian W. Joesten; Eric D. Joesten; Michael H. Berg; Bryan L. Berg; and Howard S. (Sam) Berg; in addition to eighteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandson. She was a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church and PEO sisterhood, chapter G, Charlotte. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Lela Lippert will be held at Plantation Estates on June 1, 2013 at 3 pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the lobby outside of the auditorium at Plantation Estates. A private burial at Forest Lawn East will precede the memorial service.

The family would like to thank Dr. Danny Honeycutt, Jennifer Vance and the staff of Willowbrook Court, Camille Timberlake and the Hospice Staff, and Lela’s special sitters, Inez Horne and Carolyn Brewer for their loving care of our mother and grandmother.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make contributions to the Hospice and Palliative Care Association, Charlotte Region or to the memorial fund at Plantation Estates.
