He was born April 1, 1937, in Fort Mill, SC, graduated from Fort Mill High School, and while serving in the US Navy as Master Chief Petty officer, he received his BA in Mechanical Engineering at University of Maryland, College Park. He retired from the United States Navy. He had a lifelong passion for crossword puzzles, the more difficult it was the better.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon Arnold of Charlotte and formerly of PA; and his niece, Vicki of Rock Hill, SC.
Private services for the family will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
