Mary Niday Strickland

She was born to Martin Branch and Carmel walters Branch in Orrum, North Carolina. The family moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where she met her first husband, Bernard Mack. A few years after he passed, she married Latney Niday in 1973 and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she worked for Pic N Pay Shoes for many years. Later she opened APlus Towing with her husband and they ran the business together until he passed in 2005. At the age of 70, she married Mitchell Strickland and they enjoyed 10 years of marriage until he passed away in 2021.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Mack, second husband, Latney Niday, third husband, Mitchell Strickland; sister and brother in-law, Betty and Pete Norton, brother and sister in-law, Freddie and Maryann Branch; brother, MW Branch; stepchild, Debbie McDaniel and her husband, Richard McDaniel; stepchild, Robin Richert; stepchild, Joseph Strickland; and her beloved dog, Buddy.

Mary is survived by her 3 children, Cindy Blackburn (Cindy), Billy Mack (Jade), and Marty Mack (Lisa); brother, Donald Branch (Sarah); and her step children, Angie Funderburk, Joe Niday (Anne), Dale Strickland (Jeannie), Denise Horne (John), and Daren Strickland, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary loved her Lord and Savior. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was kind, caring and hard-working and will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her love of collecting Fenton Glass.

A visitation for Mary will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Laurel Baptist Church, 11801 Plaza Road Extension, Charlotte, NC 28215, with a service to follow. Mary will be laid to rest at Charlotte Memorial Gardens, 7632 Hood Road, Charlotte, NC 28215.
