

Born June 4, 1992 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Matt was the son of John Bradley Kight and Ann Ferguson Wilson. He was a 2010 graduate of Butler High School and 2015 graduate of East Carolina University, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Economics and Business Administration. Matt served in the US Army Reserves as a CBRN Specialist.
Matt was employed with Carolina Handling as Fleet Asset Coordinator. He was an avid ECU and Carolina Panthers fan. He enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places with his beloved friends. Matt especially loved his dog, Thor.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Kight, Valla Ferguson, and Donald Elliott, aunts, Kay Ferguson Overturf and Donna Turbeville, and an uncle, Bill Yandell.
Matt is survived by his parents, John and Ginny Elliott Kight of Indian Land, South Carolina, and Ann Wilson of Charlotte; siblings, Ashley and Christopher Wilson of Charlotte; grandparents, Judy Kight of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Dale Kight of Pensacola, Florida, Aaron Ferguson of Charlotte, and Pauline Elliott of Charlotte; aunts and uncles, Bryan (Jan) Kight of Jacksonville, Bart (Opal) Kight of Jacksonville, Beth (Leo) Scott of Matthews, Julie Yandell of Leesburg, Florida, and Robert (Alanza) Ferguson of Charlotte; and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, at United Love Baptist Church in Midland, with the Rev. Marvin Tyson officiating. Interment will follow in Ira V. Ferguson Memorial Cemetery in Charlotte.
