

Mr. Dodd was born to Horace B. and Louise Gamble Dodd on March 18, 1920 in McMinnville, TN.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Kiser Dodd, daughters Cheryl Dodd and Dianna Dodd of Charlotte, NC, sons Terry Dodd & wife Pam Dodd of Simpsonville, SC, Rodney Dodd of Charlotte, NC., and two grandsons Kendrick Dodd of N. Myrtle Beach, SC and Patrick Dodd of Anderson, SC. He was preceded him in death by his son, Ricky Dodd, sister Virginia Blassingame, and two brothers James and Joseph Dodd.
Mr. Dodd was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army. He worked as a professional photographer for 35 years. His second career was as a sales professional selling business franchises for various companies.
Mr. Dodd enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing at the ocean or lakes and tending to his garden when he was able. His other hobbies included playing his guitar and drawing/painting. His volunteer activities at Ridgecrest Baptist Retreat, Samaritan's Purse, and Meals on Wheels were a testament to his lifelong compassion and concern for others.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses, staff and Dr. Elsey at Asbury Care Center for their loving care and attention to our beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Also remembered for their many years of exceptional medical care are specialists Dr. Bobby Silver and Dr. Alfred Newman.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, from 12:30pm-1:45pm at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd., Mint Hill, NC. His funeral service will follow at 2pm.The Reverend John Harrill and The Reverend Arnold Kessler of Hickory Grove Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be private.
