She was born on Mar. 11, 1920, in Greenville, SC, to Horace L. and Lois Gwinn Deaton.
She married Frank Moffatt Harkey on Aug. 16, 1941, in York, SC.
Mr. Harkey died on Oct. 26, 1996.
She was a member of the Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
Survivors include her son, David (Ruth) Harkey, Hickory; her daughter, Susan (Tedd) Smith, Midland, NC; five grandchildren;
and four great grandchildren.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, from 1-2 pm at the McEwen-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd., Mint Hill, NC, followed by her graveside service at Evergreen City Cemetery, 4426 Central Ave., Charlotte, NC. Reverend Myer Dahn will officiate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant son, and her son, Steve.
