Patricia Eure Jackson passed away on October 23, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Whaleyville, VA, on December 30, 1933, the youngest of seven children to Rosalie Carter Eure and William Clinton Eure. She was known as Pat, Ms. Pat, Mom, Nana, Great Nana, and (lovingly) “the old battleaxe”.
Pat was married to Gene Claude Jackson of Sunbury, NC, for 43 years until he passed on December 19, 1996. She was employed for over 40 years in the dental field; she was very proud that at 91, she still had all of her original teeth (no crowns or dentures). After retiring, Pat loved volunteering at the Billy Graham Library as a greeter for more than 12 years.
Two of Pat’s greatest loves were her church and music. Throughout her life, she led numerous musical groups for children, youth, adults, seniors and handbells at Mulberry Baptist, Durham Memorial Baptist and Independence Hill Baptist – some as a volunteer, some as an employee. She also led music on several mission trips to Mexico, and taught piano lessons for many years. Producing and presenting musical programs was a passion for her. And performing with the Charlotte Choral Society, especially the Singing Christmas Tree, was one of her favorite musical activities. Pat was an active member of Grace Community Church in Fort Mill for over 17 years, where she was involved in music, greeting and missions.
Crafts and cooking filled a lot of Pat’s free time, and much of that was because of her desire to help others. Her creative spirit was seen in cross stitch, crocheting, decoupage, sewing and knitting (she started a ministry knitting prayer blankets for those with illness, new babies, family loss or other hardships). She loved cooking for others, especially desserts and Christmas goodies – coconut cake was her specialty.
Pat’s greatest love, pride and joy was her family. She loved them all with an unconditional love that never wavered. She gave firm guidance, but always supported with open arms. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Hopper and Cathy Trotter (Jim/Jamie); grandchildren, Toby Hopper, Colbey Hopper (Katie), Joey Hopper (Stephanie), Ashley Helms (Chris), Allison Burgess (Johnny), and Brad Trotter; great grandchildren, Olivia Hopper, Winnie Hopper, Graydon Hopper, Maddox Hopper, Lexi Burgess, Peyton Burgess, and Sofia Helms; godson, Mickey Chaney; as well as many nieces, nephews, and numerous others who considered her their “mom”.
A graveside service will be held at Independence Hill Baptist Church in Huntersville for family and close friends. A Memorial Celebration will be held at Grace Community Church, 1190 Gold Hill Road, Fort Mill, SC on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 4:00pm. Wear green if possible – it was her favorite color. In place of flowers, please send donations to Via Health Partners, or charity of your choice, in the name of Patricia Jackson.
