Philip Moore Sherrill, 59, of Matthews passed away peacefully on April 16, 2012. He was born in Mecklenburg County on March 22, 1953. Phil was a 1971 graduate of Independence High School and Auburn University in 1977. He taught at East Meck High School where he coached wrestling as well as at Sun Valley High School. Phil was a licensed real estate broker and most recently, worked with Bank of America.
Phil is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patty Peacock Sherrill; son, Eric Christopher Sherrill and his wife Tiah of Charlotte; daughter Kathryn Elizabeth Sherrill of Matthews; sister Faye Sherrill Carter and her husband Norman of Matthews and niece Lauren Amanda Austin of Matthews.
The family will receive friends at 11 am on Friday April 20 at McEwen Funeral Home Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road followed by a 12:00 noon funeral service. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park.
