Bob was born on April 12, 1956, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to James and Nancy (Harris) Balentine. He became Head of Sales at the family business, B&B Leather Co., where he served for many years. Later in life, he became manager of an Original Mattress Company store in Charlotte.
Bob was vibrant and boisterous. His exuberant nature filled every room he entered. This lively personality, knack for technology, and spirited attitude made for a very successful salesman, a job he seemed born to do. Bob was a man of many talents: karate, volleyball, wood working, he created beautiful stain glass projects, and enjoyed catamaraning, to name a few. Although he didn't have any children of his own, at family gatherings, he could usually be found with his many nieces and nephews, likely causing mischief and grinning from ear to ear. He was always smiling. Bob was a dog lover and his collies over the years were a large part of his life. He had many friends and greatly enjoyed trips with them.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his sister, Becky; and brothers, Rick and Alan. He is survived by many cousins and one aunt, Drucilla Gosnell. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews; and 17 great-nieces and nephews. His smiling face will be greatly missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 pm Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 pm at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road in Mint Hill.
