

Sonny was born to Robert and Alma Bolick on May 31, 1929 in Huntersville, North Carolina.
After misleading the military about his age, Sonny joined the Army and was a member of the 11th Airborne Division. During his career he completed 255 jumps and was a soldier in occupied Japan.
While in service, he was a catcher on an Army Baseball Team and then for a club team once he returned home. Sonny spent his career as a long haul trucker and manager for a local trucking company. He also spent time as a Mason.
His parents; Robert and Alma Bolick; first wife, Betty Freeman; sister, Bobbie Hubbard; aunt, Lucy Stillwell (Babe); and grandson, Peter Sims preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Von Bolick; daughters, Pamela Linker,and Deborah Freshcorn (Scott); sons, Michael Bolick, and Mark Bolick (Nora); step-daughters; Stephanie Efird and Jill Efird-Pressley (Steve); grand-children, Bobby Griffin (Tammy), Wes Linker (Carrie), Holly Ferguson (Adam), April Ruiz, Morgan Johnson (Robert), Brice Pressley, Taylor Pressley, and Hunter Hicks; great grand-children, Virginia "Jenny" Wyatt (Simon), Kaitlyn Linker, Sara Linker, Blake Ruiz, Xander Ferguson, and Ava Ruiz; and great-great grandson Graison Wyatt.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 10, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Amity Presbyterian Church, 2831 N Sharon Amity Rd, Charlotte, North Carolina 28205. The service will immediately follow. Sonny will be laid to rest at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28212.
The family invites everyone following the services to join them at Amity Presbyterian Church-Johnston Hall, for heavy hors d'oeuvres.
