Ruby Wilson Hailey

Ruby was Born on February 25, 1942 in Mecklenburg County to the late Henry and Pearlie Wilson.

She grew up in Mint Hill, NC and attended East Mecklenburg High School, graduating with the class of 1960. Following graduation, she attended Medical University of South Carolina School of Nursing and had a long career at Charlotte Orthopedic and CMC-Monroe.

Ruby married her husband Randy Hailey of Matthews, NC and together they had two children. She loved to travel cross country RV camping with Randy. In all their years of traveling, they only missed 2 states in their camper, Hawaii and Alaska.

Ruby was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was active in "Mary's Class" at Hopewell and the "Eastern Star" chapter of Mint Hill.

Her family will miss her kind, smart, and fun loving personality.

She was predeceased by her husband, Randy and brother, David Wilson.

Ruby is survived by her children, Andy Hailey and Rhonda (Bill) Plafcan; grandchildren; Alysia Plafcan and Allison Plafcan, sisters; Linda Simpson and Brenda Severt, and several nieces & nephews

The family asks that friends consider a donation to the American Heart Association in memory of Ruby.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.

Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 12:30 PM Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Dr, Matthews, NC 28104.
