

Born April 20, 1925 in Oakboro, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late William Rose Hatley and Bessie Sasser Hatley. She attended Central High School in Charlotte, and retired from Ram Leather as a seamstress. She was a member of Locust Presbyterian Church, and had a passion for her children, grandchildren, music and reading. In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Nantz of Mooresville, her daughter, Venitta Carol Lancaster, her sisters, Nancy Ballard of Locust and Sharon Rich of Oakboro, and her brother, Jimmy Hatley of Albemarle.
She is survived by three children, Fred Nantz and wife, Ann, of Rockingham, Gayle J. Nantz of Greensboro, and Kay N. Brown of Mint Hill; seven grandchildren, Ross and Ricky Nantz, Robin Barefoot, Leesa Dabbs, Leslie Henry, Richard Brown and Joey Lancaster; and eleven great grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, at Locust Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Doug Van Niel officiating. Friends are cordially invited to a reception following the service at the church.
