He was 89 years old. Ted was born in Winfield, Kansas to the late Earnest and Luva Foote and was the younger brother to the late Richard (Dick) Foote. He graduated from Atlanta High school in 1952 and went on to attend junior college in Arkansas City, graduating in 1956. In 1957 he was drafted to the United States Army where he served for two years.
In the fall of 1960 Ted married the love of his life, Bernice (Thimesch) Foote and the love that Ted and Bernice had only grew stronger as time marched on. This marriage was blessed with two daughters.
Ted held a successful career in the oil business from 1960 until he retired from BP in 1991 and after retiring his favorite passion was golfing with his friend Barry and spending time with his family. He would continue to play golf, walking 18 holes, almost every day until he was 80 years old.
Ted had an incredibly optimistic soul. No matter what the issue was at hand, there was always something positive where a light could be shinned upon, and he was always willing to give people a second chance or the shirt off of his back. The impact that he had on those around him will be felt for years to come.
As I sit here, its difficult to compress and summarize a mans life of 89 full years down to a couple paragraphs with hope that you may get a glimpse into his character and feel the love that he gave to those around him. Frankly, I don’t think it is possible but I do hope that you had the privilege to know Ted and if you did, I hope you raise a glass of Coca-Cola in his name and honor.
He is survived by his bride, Bernice Foote; two daughters Melynn Layton (John) and Michelle Whitley; three grand children, Buddy Layton (Kloi), Shelby Randall (Jordan) and Weston Whitley; two great-grandbabies, Levi Layton and Jr. Randall.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother.
