

Ray was a Charlotte native and graduated from Tech High School in 1942. He served as a Sonarman on a US Navy destroyer escort in World War II. After his service, Ray attended NC State University and Appalachian State University. He was a charter member of University City United Methodist Church (formerly Belmont Park UMC). He retired from Parks Cramer Company as Chief Textile Engineer.
Ray was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Raymelle C. House.
He is survived by his sons, Tom House (Sandra) and Allen House (Myra); his daughter, Jennifer Van Lear (Bill); his grandchildren, Melissa Nichols (Stephan), Brad House, Colin House (AJ), Hayley House (Ashley Bentley), Natalie Vines (Joey); and his great-grandchildren, Emily Nichols, Beckett House, Fin Vines; his brother, George House; his sister-in-law, Carole Cathcart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at University City United Methodist Church, 3835 W. WT Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC. Receiving of friends will follow the service.
