Tom was born on April 14, 1951, to Ervin and Ethlyn Schnuck in St. Charles, MO, later moving to Indianapolis. After graduating from Ben Davis High School in 1969, he went on to study aircraft maintenance at Vincennes University and obtained his private pilot’s license.
In 1976, Tom married and moved to Charlotte, NC to start a family. He opened and operated his own Porsche repair shop for several years and then continued his talent for auto and aeronautical mechanic work at Piedmont Airlines, the City of Charlotte and Carolina VW.
After retiring in 2008, he moved to Tell City, IN, where he spent ten years enjoying small town life and raising his beloved Doberman, Zoey.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his ex-wife, Lynn Schnuck.
He is survived by his daughter, Erica Tomashitis (husband Nathan); grandson Gavin Tomashitis; sister Carol Summerlin (husband Clay); niece Morgan and nephew Tyler.
Tom was a devoted dad and dog lover. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte.
