

Tommy Joe Fleming, of Mint Hill, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, the 4th of October 2013 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center surrounded by his loving and supportive family. He was 64 years old.
Born the 3rd of August 1949 in Greenville, SC, Tommy was a son of Lawton “Buck” Fleming and the late Dorothy Miller Fleming. He graduated from Parker High School, Greenville, SC in 1967, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management in 1971 from Clemson University.
Tommy retired, with honors, at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves, having served from 1971 until 1996. Tommy worked with Duke Energy for 43 years, where he held the position of Manager of Performance Support of Power and Delivery.
Tommy was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail and a former member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. While at Hickory Grove, his served as Chairman of Deacons, and was a member of the Finance Committee, Professional Staff Committee, Nominating Committee, and Long-Range Planning Committee.
In addition to his father of Greenville, SC, Tommy is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 43 years, Connie Mylinda Fleming of Mint Hill, NC; son, Joseph Michael “Mike” Fleming and wife, Helen, of Belmont, NC; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Fleming Kendrick and husband, Heth, of Mint Hill, NC; brother, Rev. Paul Fleming, and family, of Greenville, SC; sister, Rebecca “Becky” Ann Kull, and family, of Kewanee, IL; granddaughter, Abigail “Abby” Olivia Kendrick, age 5; grandson, “Sean” Joseph Fleming, age 3; and seven nephews and one niece.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five-thirty o’clock in the evening until eight-thirty o’clock in evening on Monday, the 7th of October 2013 at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail-Fairview Road in Indian Trail. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held one o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 8th of October 2013 at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
