

William Alan Barrack (Bill), age 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Mint Hill, NC, on August 22, 2024. In his final moments, Bill was surrounded by his loving family, including his wife, Coleen; his son, Bill; and his niece, Kara.
Born on Friday, June 13, 1952, in Washington, DC, to William Alexander and Doris Anne Barrack, Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Coleen Marie Barrack; his son, William Alan Barrack II; his daughter-in-law, Melissa Barrack; and his grandson, William Alexander Barrack.
Bill dedicated nearly 40 years to serving as a telecommunications engineer for the United States Department of State. As a valued and trusted team member, he played a crucial role in providing communication support for numerous conferences and summits, including the 1998 Peace Conference between Israel and Palestine at Wye River. He also traveled globally with Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, offering key support at summits in Moscow and Madrid.
Bill was a quiet man with a penchant for humor, often interjecting witty one-liners into conversations. He enjoyed attending Washington Capitals and Nationals games and cherished the memory of driving to Philadelphia, PA, with his son for the very first Washington Nationals game on April 4, 2005. A history enthusiast and financial planner, Bill had a deep passion for numbers and planning.
Bill will be remembered as a dedicated husband and father with a commitment to his family that was unmatched. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds solace in the knowledge that he is now with the Lord.
A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on Friday, August 30, at 2:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Home in Mint Hill, NC, with a BBQ reception to follow at 12801 Bain School Road, Mint Hill, NC.
