

Worth Benjamin Preslar, of Charlotte, passed Away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Aldersgate-Asbury Care Center in Charlotte, NC. He was born on September 6, 1922, in Union County to Benjamin Franklin Preslar and Arista Melton Preslar.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Preslar; Daughter, Sheila Forbis (Gary) all of Charlotte, NC and grandson, Eric Forbis of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Worth Served in the Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Savannah and the U.S.S. Gantner. Upon discharge he returned to Charlotte where he joined the Charlotte Fire Department in 1948. After 30 years of service to the City of Charlotte as a firefighter, he retired in 1978.
He was a Charter member of University City Methodist Church, formerly Belmont Park United Methodist Church.
The family will receive Friends on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. His Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, August 11, 2014, at University City United Methodist Church, 3835 West WT Harris Blvd. Charlotte, NC. Internment will follow the service at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery, Charlotte, North Carolina
Worth is preceded in death by the love of his life and Wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Austin Preslar. He is also predeceased by his brothers, Harold, Marvin, Leighton, and Ralph Preslar and sisters, Alma Purser, Mildred Thomas and Margaret Bledsoe.
