Concepcion Miranda Mercado

Concepcion “Conchita” Miranda Mercado, 93, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at Erlanger East Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Born on December 09, 1930 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Estervina Mercado Benítez and Pedro Miranda Torres.

Conchita graduated from Aibonito High School in 1949. She met and married Dionisio Rodriguez Rivera in Chicago, Illinois and together they raised three daughters.

Conchita spent her time caring for her family, she was very welcoming, always eager to help others, and ensured everyone left with a full stomach. She also loved working outdoors with her plants, crocheting, and caring for her beloved animals.( Lucky and Kia)

She worked for many years and later at the Department of Education as a dedicated school cook for over 30 years.

Conchita is survived by her daughters, Diana ( Chente), Waleska, and Zulma ( Frank) her grandchildren, Pedro Edgardo, Diana Ivelisse( Shaughn), William, Vanessa ( Brian), Vicdian, Valerie, Jonathan and Frank, Jr.( Savannah) Great- grandkids Aiden, Aleia, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Isabelle, Keisi, Declan, Victoria, Christian, Sebastián.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her beloved twin sister (Pura).

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 09, 2024 from 2-5 PM and a memorial service at 5 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist. Burial will be held at Collegedale Cemetery at 4 PM Monday afternoon.

Conchita will be remembered for her sense of humor, observancy of those around her, and love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
