He was the son of the late Valerio and Manuela Fontanilla and was preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters.
He retired from both the United States Navy and the United States Postal service with a combined total of 45 years of service. Tony enjoyed many things in life such as cooking, baking, gardening, fishing and watching “The Price is Right” game show. His greatest love was being surrounded by his family.
He was a Christian and attended Silverdale Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Dolores Fontanilla, seven children, Tito Fontanilla, Carmen (Mark) Acton, Valerio Fontanilla, Marcela (Larry) Cossio, Virginia (Richard) Rothrauff, Scot (Karen) Fontanilla, Salvador Fontanilla, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Chaplain Allen Goolsby officiating. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
