Irene I. Franks, 86, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016. She was born in Tacoma Park, Maryland on July 8, 1930 to the late Ernest M. Pilkerton and Mary I. Herl. She was raised in Falls Church, Virginia then later called it home after travelling for 20 years with her husband while he served in the army.
She will be laid to rest back in Virginia, with her beloved husband of 48 years, SMaj. John W. Franks. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cora E. Graves.
She will be missed by her daughter, Sandy Summers and son-in-law Eric; her granddaughter, Anne Roth; brother-in-law Jack Franks and sister-in-law Ellen Blanton.
The family would like to thank the staff of Life Care of Ooltewah for the love and care they gave to her over the past two years.
A celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Ooltewah Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Gaither officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. till 3p.m. Monday at the church before the service.
Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
