

He was born April 4, 1949 in Gadsden, Alabama and was the son of the late Floyd Leon and Mary Virginia (Dye) Garrett.
Mr. Garrett was loved by his family and many friends, who will miss him greatly. He loved his church family at Cross Roads Baptist Church, a place and people that held a very special place in his heart. He was an avid Alabama fan, loved nature, photography and travel.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years Patsy Garrett; children Derek McKinney and wife Joy Wang, Ryan McKinney and wife Julie and Gina Esch and husband Robert; grandchildren Nathaniel Esch, Emilia McKinney and Riley Esch; brother Travis Garrett and wife Margaret; nephew Dr. Joshua Garrett and wife Laura; niece Kristy Harris and fiancé Jeff Bohannon; great nephews Sean Harris, Jack Garrett and Sam Garrett; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday May 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Cross Roads Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Steele and John Montgomery officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers include David Bowen, Michael McNabb, Don Pilcher, Johnny Snyder.
Dr. Tommy Tarvin, Bobby Watkins, Garry Watkins, and Travis Watkins The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 Saturday.
