Michael Ward Massey

Michael W. “Mike” Massey, age 72, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 22, 2012. He was born in Jackson, Tennessee the son of the late Harl and Katherine Massey. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1957 and he was a graduate of Lambuth University. Michael was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church and the Senior Men’s Class taught by Alvin Stephenson. He enjoyed being part of the Ooltewah “Hardees” group which met for breakfast on a regular basis. He retired from the Transportation Division at Sather Candy Packaging Company.

Survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Louise Massey; son, Jon(Stephanie) Massey of Apison, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Taylor Massey and Austin Massey.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Walliser, Dr. Billy Williams, Rev. Eddie Wilson and Rev. Travis Jones officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Senior Men’s Class at Silverdale Baptist Church. Interment will be in Ooltewah Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Fund at Silverdale Baptist Church, 7236 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421 and to The Foundation at Wesley Woods, 1817 Clifton Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30329.
