Bill was born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky. He retired from the US Army as a Captain having served during the Vietnam Era. After retirement he worked as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor at Pine Ridge Treatment Center in Cleveland and in Chattanooga at GreenLeaf and Bradford Health. He enjoyed golf and was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball fan. Bill was active in the Desmond Doss American Legion Post and he was a friend of Bill W, and a sponsor and influence to many. He was a member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church and the Open Door Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A. D. and Mildred Westerfield; sister, Patty Westerfield; and brother, Jay Westerfield.
Surviving are his wife, Julia Westerfield; children, Bil (Pepper) Westerfield, Tony (Alexis) Westerfield, Jackie (Jeff) Smith, Jason (Samantha) Goodowens and Ethan (Valorie) Goodowens; grandchildren, Jacob, Brady, Abby, Liam, Gracie, Claire, Addie, Maggie, Owen, Wyatt and Millie Kate; future grandson, Will; brothers, Allen (Sandy) Westerfield, Tony (Bonnie) Westerfield; sisters, Katheryn (Rod) Crowe, Cecelia (John) Cox and Mary Ann (Charlie) Lindsay; sister-in-law, Susie Westerfield; and many nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:30 AM on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:30 AM with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Inurnment immediately to follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
