Christina Maria Tebrinke of Agassiz B.C. passed away at the age of 98 on Wednesday August 5, 2026 at Agassiz Senior Community. Christina was born in Amsterdam, Holland on September 8, 1927. She finished elementary school at age 13 and entered a trade school for sewing. After finishing school she worked in a factory making ladies coats until the age of 23. In April of 1951 she immigrated to Canada along with her parents and sister, Sophia. For two years she worked as a housekeeper for Menholm nursing home in Chilliwack, B.C. along with picking beans, raspberries and strawberries.
She met John Te Brinke in 1952 and married him in May of 1953. Their married life began in a rented Dairy farm in Agassiz on Walker Road. The farm had a big house so they boarded two or three young immigrants. This home is where her four sons, John, Henry, Alex, and Paul were born. Christina also became a founding member of the First Christian Reformed Church Chilliwack in 1952.
In 1959 they moved to their first purchased Dairy Farm on Hamilton road in Agassiz, B.C. In 1960 Neal was born and Christina's family became founding members of the Agassiz Christian Reformed Church. In 1965 Christina was blessed with the birth of her daughter Krista. In 1971 she received a new house on Limbert Road in Agassiz. In 1986 Christian and John retired the Dairy farm and made the move to Fooks Road in Agassiz. However, hay farming in Cawston, B.C., became a new lifestyle with many trips over the Hope Princeton Highway until 1990.
Christina was known for her charitable heart and, in her retirement years, she devoted many hours of volunteer service to the community and to the church. In 2006 her husband, John, passed away. Together they celebrated 53 years of marriage. Then, in 2008, Christina made one more move to Elm Road in Agassiz.
Christina is predeceased by her parents Cornelis and Willemina, her brothers Alex and Cornelis, and her sisters Corey and Sophia. She leaves behind her six children, 17 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren.
