Douglas Lorne Chambers left us suddenly on October 5, 2026 in Chilliwack, B.C. Douglas leaves behind his loving wife of fifty-five years Beverly, children Cale (Yuko), Cassandra Morgan with grandchildren Henry, Walter and Felix, Bethany Macdonald (Glen) with grandchildren Isla, Eden and Grey, and Eton (Karlee) and brother Bruce (Sandra), many friends and extended family members.
Douglas was born in a little piece of heaven on earth called Penticton to Lyall and Vie Chambers. He was raised there and enjoyed his early life involved with everything ‘Penticton’: little league ball, Boy Scouts, beaches and lakes, military involvement with the B.C. Dragoons, the Japanese motorcycle invasion of the 60’s and, of course, car culture. It was also in Penticton that Douglas met the love of his life, Beverly, that resulted in a marriage of over fifty-five years. Douglas’ career in banking with CIBC would lead the family to a great number of locations within British Columbia and to postings in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Yukon and Northwest Territories where new friends and experiences were always to be found.
Never one to sit still, after official retirement, Douglas branched out and experienced new and interesting activities. Although he did return to banking at an Okanagan credit union for a while he also worked in construction on a Kelowna high-rise for a definite change of pace. A move to the coast saw him engaged in building high tech power cells at Ballard Power. Fully retiring enabled Douglas and Beverly the opportunity to ‘see the world’ with many trips including days long hikes in places such as Scotland, Norway, France, etc. along with many weeks volunteering with Sar-El in Israel.
Of all of Douglas’ interests and activities throughout his life none were more important than his close family, who he loved immensely, and his commitment to his Christian faith and love for his Saviour Jesus Christ. His faith was evidenced in his thoughts and actions daily and he loved being involved in his local church and over many years at Morning Star Bible Camp.
In the passing of Douglas Chambers a most kind and generous man has left us. He will be sorely missed but loved and remembered always.
No funeral by request. Douglas will be interred in the Chambers family plot at Lakeview Cemetery in Penticton.
