James "Jim" Robert Coleman

Jim is predeceased by his parents, Hubert and Lucille Coleman. He is survived by his siblings Maureen, Tom, and Susan, as well as Colleen (mother of his children), his son Daniel and daughter-in-law Jessica, his daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Paddy, and his beloved grandchildren Asher and Gemma. In his final days, Jim was surrounded by the love of his immediate family.

Jim grew up in Vancouver’s Killarney neighbourhood. His childhood summers were spent at Point Roberts, exploring with his siblings, crabbing, fishing, and selling fish on the beach. He later met and married Colleen, and together they moved to Abbotsford to start their family. They eventually settled in Yarrow, where they enjoyed a quiet life on a hobby farm filled with many great memories. Jim maintained a close group of friends — many of them since high school — and loved getting together with them and their families over the years. He worked at Canada Bread for 32 years before retiring in Sardis.

Jim was a deeply involved family man who coached his kids’ sports in baseball and hockey. He played in the Fort Langley Cribbage League for a number of years and loved the camaraderie it brought. He took pride in keeping up with yard work and was always found afterward relaxing on the porch with a cold drink while listening to music or sports radio. He also tackled the New York Times crosswords — a pastime that highlighted just how sharp and witty he was. An avid fisherman, he loved being outdoors in his Mac jacket, finding peace and simplicity in nature.

Jim will be remembered as a truly humble, selfless, smart, easy-going, generous, kind, and dedicated man with a wonderful sense of humour. He was gentle, caring, thoughtful, friendly, and always accepting and welcoming to everyone he met. He loved his family fiercely and found peace and joy in the simple things. He especially enjoyed meaningful conversations, stories, and laughs with everyone he knew and loved.

Jim lived a full life filled with love, laughter, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
