Myrna is survived by her two children, Cheryl (Brian) and Stewart (Kelly), and her four grandchildren, Hailey, Chloe, Miles and Simon. She was predeceased by Fred, her husband of more than 58 years.
Born in New Westminster, BC, on January 15, 1941, Myrna grew up there and, following graduation from high school in 1958, started a career in office administration that continued throughout her working years.
In August 1961, she married Fred Berge, a young NCO in the Canadian Armed Forces. Military life took Myrna and her family to many places in Canada before they settled in the Chilliwack area in 1981.
Myrna was an avid horsewoman. With her trademark determination, she maintained her passion for horses through the family’s many moves across the country.
Her love of animals extended to cats. Over the years, she adopted many cats, always from shelters and rescue agencies. They provided her warmth and wonderful companionship throughout her life.
Myrna was also a skilled seamstress and became an accomplished quilter, making many beautiful pieces.
Myrna used her research and organizational skills to prepare a comprehensive family history documenting the family’s Norwegian ancestry, creating a record for future generations.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Myrna’s care workers and neighbours for their kindness and support over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
