It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Richard George Bjorndal, affectionately known as Rick, who passed into the presence of the Lord on September 4, 2026, at his home in Chilliwack, surrounded by his beloved family. Rick courageously battled cancer for a season, a testament to his strength and resilience.
Born on July 3, 1953, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Rick was the son of Bert and Ruby Bjorndal. He was predeceased by his loving parents and his sister, Susan Warren. Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Marianne, whom he married in April 1988. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. He is also survived by his siblings, Bert Bjorndal, Anne Bjorndal Erhardt, and Robina Bjorndal Fedusiak as well as many friends who will miss him dearly. Rick leaves behind a legacy through his children, Eric Bjorndal, Casey Bjorndal and Christina Bjorndal Perry, as well as his stepchildren Greta Engelsman and David Watson. He loved his ten grandchildren very much.
Though Rick left highschool early, he found his calling in the world of car sales, where his dedication and talent quickly propelled him into management. Later in his career he started up his own car brokerage company. Beyond his professional achievements, Rick was a man of deep faith and spent much of his life actively participating in various churches. His commitment to his faith in Christ led him to become involved with the Full Gospel Men's Fellowship International. Together with Marianne, Rick led numerous Bible studies and small groups, passionately sharing his faith and touching countless lives.
Rick was an avid reader and a lover of music. He found joy in singing and writing songs, often creating heartfelt songs for Marianne and worship songs to express his devotion to Jesus. His melodies and lyrics will remain a cherished memory for those who knew him.
Rick's life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his unwavering faith, and the love he shared with family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
