I love calling you Nana. It's because you're more than a grandmother. Nana to me represents family, love, strength, hope, and most of all faith. You instilled all of these qualities and much more in each and every one of us. And there are a lot of us! Everything we are begins with you, through the grace of God. Out of all the gifts you've given to our family the most cherished are your prayers. You pray for all of us, all the time. I've learned from you the power of prayer, and I pray for you and our family all the time. I pray for peace and love and hope and faith for our family until we can be together again with our Lord in heaven.

My Dearest Mom,

There is a deep hole in my heart that makes me sad and I cry.  It can only be filled with thoughts of you and I am happy and I laugh again.  I feel so blessed that our Lord gave you to us to be our Mother, teacher, friend and protector.

I will remember how much you loved me, my husband, all my children, your help, your advice, all the things you told me and taught me and I will keep my promise to you.

Mom, I miss you every day but please know that I am happy you are with your Father, Mother, little brother, your husband and son, your sisters, your family and friends. but most of all that you are in the presence of our Lord sitting and talking to Him.  Your love for Him will forever shine through all your children.

       I will always and forever LOVE YOU! As I think and write to you. I remember so many things about you. Your Love, your Beauty, your kindness, your Strength, your Selflessness, your Genuineness. Most  of all I will always remember your LOVE for Tom, me and our children! I have missed you so so much! I'm so very happy that you are with Our Lord and with Daddy! There aren't enough words to express my Love for you! I'm very happy that you were here with me for the birth of our children. Our children and Grandchildren were very Blessed to have you as their Nana. My Tom  has been very Blessed to call you Nina and mother in law. If not for you Mamasita I  wouldn't  have married Tom! If I 
am half the woman and mother that you have been. I will be so thankful to you! I know that you will be looking down upon all of us. I'm so blessed to be named after you! It is such an honor . I will always  be so blessed that you were my Mamasita. Again I will always and forever LOVE YOU!!

Mom, thank you for loving me, teaching me, protecting me and guiding me through life. I'll always remember you telling me as I would leave the house "Remember who you are and where you come from". I know that was your way of protecting me even when you were not with me! You taught me to make the right choices.  I raised my children the way you raised me. To love The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, to pray everyday all day, and to always make family a priority. I know your still protecting me and watching over all of us. Please continue to guide me. You will forever be in my  heart. I will teach Camila and all my grandchildren all about you and I hope to be as awesome a Nana to them as you were to my kids.

Although I am very sad that you are no longer with us I know for a fact that you are with your Lord and you cannot be any happier. Nana, you will never be forgotten and will be forever missed.  Thank you for being  an example for us to be kind, grateful, loving, selfless, compassionate, and wise. Many times I watched you faithfully offer up prayers of thanksgiving and worry to God and let Him guide your words and actions with such genuine trust. I learned from you and will try to be Christ-like, like you.  I always felt like such a treasure in your eyes. You were so proud of us all.  You created a place for us to laugh, love, cry, rest, and party; a place for us to come together.  Now, no matter where our family members may be, we are always connected because each of us holds a little bit of you in our hearts.  Help us, love us, and pray for us from above, as our angel. May you be in eternal joy and peace with the Father in heaven. I love you.

Gramma...that's what I called you but you were so much more. You and Grandpa were like my other parents. Even though you had 12 kids of your own (as if that weren't enough) you always had me with you, too. You always made me feel like I was one of your own.

I'm so grateful that God put me in a family that taught me to love the Lord, work hard and love my family, no matter what. I may not have appreciated it growing up, but I'll never forget how you taught us how to hang the clothes on the line and wax the floors on our hands and knees. These are a few of the many memories I am thankful for and will forever be in my mind. 

A verse in the bible reminds us to be thankful for all situations, the good and the bad, and I never understood it until now. Though I wasn't thankful for the disease and what it was doing to you, I am thankful because I got to spend every Tuesday afternoon with precious You, my Gramma.

Every day I think of you. Whenever I see elephants, I remember you and the knowledge you have left me.  You taught me patience, but most of all, you taught me to love everyone, and that is one thing that stands out the most.  As Christians, every day we build our ladder to heaven.  Your ladder is made of gold because of the role model you were and still are.  I remember you said "Don't take life for granted, because you never know what could happen."  Nobody is perfect; everyone makes mistakes, but you are the little voice inside my head saying, "It's okay my boy, you can do it; I believe in you."  So, I will take your advice, and your legacy, and I will try my best to be like you, my Nana.  I'll make you proud.  I will always think of you. I love you.

It's been a year since I've been able to talk to you. I miss talking to you. I loved our talks. I loved listening to your stories. Especially the ones about when you were young. The ones about you and Daddy. I want to share them with everyone. I miss being able to talk to you about my problems and getting the best advice I could ever get. I miss shopping with you. You always gave me your honest opinion. You always told me what looked best on me. I miss our meals out. Eating soup or sharing our Chef Salads. I miss doing your hair and sometimes your make-up. I miss you so much Mama. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you.  I close my eyes and I see your smile; your laugh.  I still feel your caress on my face.  Julius and I carry you with us wherever we go.  Your little boy has so many memories of things you told him and taught him. He is eternally blessed by you. You will forever live in our hearts.
