

Carmen Cordova was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Carmen will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
She was the daughter of Luis Curiel and Isidora Sanchez. Carmen grew up in Miztlan, Jalisco Mexico.
Carmen was raised with three siblings.She had a sister Magdalena Rubio and two brothers Juan and Encarnacion Curiel. Carmen was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young girl, Carmen had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. In her spare time she liked raising farm animals at her home. However, to Carmen, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends.
Empathic and loyal, Carmen was committed to making her new family happy.
Carmen meet her husband of Fifty two year Anselmo Cordova in Cananea Sonora, Mexico. It was love at first sight. They were married through the Justice of the Peace on christmas day and through the catholic church on new yeras day of 1950 in Canaea Sonora, Mexico. Carmen worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Carmen and was blessed with ten children, Juan Manuel, Anselmo, Maria de Los Angeles, Bertha, Rosita, Ramona, Francisco Javier, Frederick, Sandra Luz, and Robert. Another blessing for Carmen was the gift of eleven grandchildren, John Manuel Cordova, Antonio Cordova, Armando Reynoso Jr., Luciano Reynoso, Jovani Reynoso, Joseph Cordova Sanchez, Frederick Cordova, Monique Cordova, Cayetano Ortega, Angel Anselmo Ortega and Robert Cordova.
Fortunately, Carmen enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Carmen worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was housewife. Carmen always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Carmen enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were dedicating time to her husband and children. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Carmen’s faith was important to her. She was a member of Mt.Carmel Catholic Church for 44 years.
Though she never set out to gain individual recognition, Carmen was given accolades for her many and varied accomplishments throughout her life. Some of her most prestigious awards included best mom.
Carmen enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included visits to Mexico.
Carmen passed away on May 11, 2012 at Promise Hospital in San Diego. Carmen fought a brave battle against heart failure and pneumonia. She is survived by six children John, Ramona, Frank, Fred, Sandy and Robert, grandchildren John Jr., Antonio, Armando Jr., Luciano, Jovani, Joseph, Monique, Fred Jr., Cayetano, Angel Anselmo and Robert and great-grandchildren Gavin and Calista. Services were held at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Carmen was laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego, California.
Simply stated, Carmen was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Carmen leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Carmen Cordova.
