

Carolyn V Armas, born September 1st 1934 the daughter of Toribio and Anita Varela in the Mining Town of Santa Rita del Cobre, New Mexico. Beloved daughter, wife, mother, grand mother, great grand mother and community activist. Carolyn Varela had three Sisters Lucille, Lillian and Ofelia. and two Brothers Sixto and Antonio Varela.
Carolyn Varela Moved to San Ysidro California in 1944 where she lived with her Family
And went to School.. Carolyn Varela Met her husband Bernardo Franco Armas through her brothers and was married on July 12, 1952. Carolyn Varela Armas bore Six Children, William, Nestor Philip, Maria de Jesus Judith, Bernard Nicasio, Albert Toribio and Christina Armas. Nestor Philip died at Three days old.
Carolyn as a youth helped Her Father Toribio Varela build there home in San Ysidro California. Carolyn Went on to Get her First Job with the San Ysidro School District as a part time Cafeteria worker in order to help her husband support their children. As years past she attended Southwestern Community college in order to qualify as a school Secretary for the San Ysidro School District. Carolyn eventually was promoted to the position of Administrative Assistant to Three Principles At Smythe Elementary School, where she spent the Most rewarding days of her Working Career. Carolyn was recognized by the San Ysidro School District for her dedicated service to the children that attended Smythe Elementary School. School Parents recognized Carolyn with bouquets of Flowers and awards. Carolyn throughout her 34 years of employment missed one half day of work when her father past away..
Carolyn Varela Armas was a pillar of the Community of San Ysidro and had a major impact on many of the educational changes the school district saw during her career in the district and through her retirement. Carolyn was instrumental in the Community Developmnet Plan through the government agency known as Model Cities. This development plan made government officials aware of the needs of San Ysidro. Many of the high level officials sought her advice as to what the community needs were for improvement during these years of change. The community found trust in her honesty and subtleness through the years she was involved as a community activist.
Carolyn Varela Armas with her tremendous work ethic created her own real estate investment company which weathered the Economic collapse of the real estate market.
Carolyn Varela Armas an extremely religious person taught her children to live by the golden rule. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.This was a statement that
rang through the Armas household every morning prior to sending her children To school..
Carolyn Varela Armas also a grandmother of twelve and Great Grandmother of one provided a solid foundation of Family and Morals for all her Grandchildren William Joshua, Aaron Michael, Sarai Bernadette, Jose Alfredo, Nestor Phillip, Andrea Michelle, Gabriela Lana, Ariel Andres, Jacklyn Christine, Tomas ,Victoria Caroline and Great Granddaughter Arianna Jasmine.
Carolyn Varela Armas retired together with her husband of 60 years in there original home they purchased in San Ysidro California, her legacy of honesty, patience, trustworthiness, self confidence and Loyalty to Her Husband, Children, Grandchildren and Great grand child.and her community will surely be missed.
