Charles was a high school football star at Crawford High School, graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in history, a decorated Navy veteran, avid fisherman, outdoors man. He loved to read and tend to his rose garden, vegetable garden and fruit trees. He was a San Diego Padre and Chargers fan. He was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Mihoko, his daughter Kathy, son Clay, daughter in-law Lisa, and four grandchildren Kimberlee, Emily, Kobe and Seneca. He will be missed by his family, friends and his dog Kyuri.
