Thank you Dr. Hewes for teaching me to love my students and involve their families.  Your secret of success has truly been a success.   I so appreciated you always telling it like it is.  I'll see you later, in Heaven!

Dr. Hewes made a difference in my life in so many ways. She had a tinkly laugh, she made all of her students LOVE children as well as all our courses. I so looked forward to seeing her walk across campus and often sought her out for advice, career guidance and general good cheer. She is the reason why I chose my career path and 20+ years post graduation I still work with children. She was the most beloved teacher. Tru;y a wonderful person. I loved taking her lectures next to Dr. Whitney and the Drs' Chadwick. We all loved her so and admired her and the good work she did. Saint Peter is lucky to have her. Blessings to you Dorothy.

Dorothy is the reason I am an Early Childhood educator! She has been an inspiration and a role model since the day I met her.  GOD blessed us all with the gift of Dorothy in our lives and the lives of children everywhere. GOD bless and receive you warmly Dorothy!

Dorothy was my teacher in Bakersfield, California in 1969 at Bakersfield Play Center. I feel so fortunate to have been able to have such wonderful childhood experiences at the school which gave me a love for learning. I am now a Special Education teacher working with Kindergarten age students with moderate-to-severe disabilities. Dorothy will always have a special place in my heart as one of my first teachers.

Dorothy Hewes was a role model for those of us in the Early Care and Education Field. Each time I saw her she amazed me with her knowledge and wisdom about children as well as teachers. Although we lived 2000 miles away - Dorothy was always an inspiration. And as it turned out we had much in common besides genes. We are grateful for the family gathering the celebrated her 90th birthday - that we could celebrate her important and meaningful life. She will be missed but not forgotten.
